In the first part of this article, we revealed interesting shopping behaviors among Indonesians regarding official versus non-official stores in e-commerce platforms. While the majority prefer official stores, we figured out that a notable portion still shop at non-official ones [1]. Our study revealed the shopping preferences in Indonesia’s e-commerce space which indicates that nearly a quarter of the population mixes their shopping habits based on factors like convenience, price, or product availability:
- 11% of Indonesians shop exclusively at non-official stores.
- 24% shop at both official and non-official stores.
Furthermore, why do people prefer non-official stores? Our survey highlights five key reasons:
- Cheaper Prices (45%)
- More Diverse Product Selection (21%)
- Unique Discounts and Interesting Offers (17%)
- Supporting Small Businesses (8%)
- Good Customer Service (6%)
Our respondents who like to shop at the non-official stores also revealed that they tend to choose non-official stores based on these factors, which show that customer trust and value for money heavily influence decision-making.
