Indonesia has long been a hotbed for diverse music and podcast genres, and it’s no surprise that a staggering 95% of Indonesians love listening to music and podcasts [1].
However, how frequently do they engage with these forms of entertainment? What do they value most when choosing their favorite platforms for streaming?
Check out our latest survey that reveals fascinating insights into the listening habits of Indonesians in 2025 below.

According to our data, Indonesians dedicate varying amounts of time to audio entertainment. A significant portion listens for around 30 to 60 minutes per session, making it the most common duration. Others prefer shorter sessions of less than 30 minutes, while some spend between one to two hours listening to their favorite music or podcasts. A dedicated group of listeners even surpasses two hours per session, indicating a deep engagement with streaming content.
Indonesians Spending on Music and Podcast Streaming
“In this study, we discovered that the vast majority of Indonesians prefer listening to music and podcasts for free. This research found that 79% of respondents use streaming services without paying, opting for ad-supported models. A small portion, 8%, consistently subscribe to premium (paid) services to enjoy uninterrupted, high-quality audio. Meanwhile, 13% of users follow a hybrid approach, primarily using free services but occasionally paying for premium features when needed,” said Haifa, Business Development & Corporate Marketing Associate of Snapcart, in Jakarta (11/3).
Furthermore, this survey shows that Indonesians display a range of spending behaviors when it comes to accessing their favorite content. The majority of users either opt for free services or spend a minimal amount, with nearly half users (45%) paying less than IDR 25,000 per month. Another 45% users subscribe to plans costing between IDR 25,000 and IDR 50,000 per month, balancing affordability with premium features. Only a small percentage of users are willing to spend more than IDR 50,000 per month, likely for access to high-quality audio, exclusive content, and an ad-free experience.
